Local Adult & Campus FCA Outdoors

FCA Outdoors is a term used to describe a local group of Adult are Sportsmen & Outdoor enthusiasts who have a heart for Christ, Outdoors, and the mission and vision of the Outdoors Ministry. They are a group of people who unite and gather locally for Fellowship, Skill Development, Spiritual Growth, and Outreach.  They provide an opportunity to come together regularly to strengthen each other, accomplish things that individuals could not do alone, improve their sportsmen and outdoors skills and provide a base group to bring others into, both Christian and non-Christian.

Because FCA Outdoors provide so many growth and ministry opportunities, FCA and FCA Outdoors highly encourage their formation and development.  As a small group tied and working together in your community, you will experience more, accomplish more, have a much bigger impact on everyone while enjoying the outdoors. Leaders, known as Team Guide Leaders, have the wonderful opportunity to enlist and encourage the FCA Outdoors members to enter the Guide Certification Program to enhance their skills both spiritually and physically. With help from the National FCA Outdoors office and coordination with local traditional FCA staff, the Team Guide Leader will also serve as a coordinator and developer of school related Outdoors events. With implementation of Ministry that reaches adults and youth through a Let's Go Outdoors Program entire families will be reached and the overall Ministry of FCA will be strengthened.

FCA Outdoors is also planting on campuses Team FCA Outdoors Huddles for Students complete with a handbook and a 12 month curriculum as well as the new FCASSP (Fellowship of Christian Athletes Shooting Sports Program).  Join our efforts today!

How Do I Start an Adult FCA Outdoors or Campus Team FCA Outdoors?

1.  Pray.  Seek the Lord's will for your area and the calling God has put in your heart.  Pray for the potential Outdoors ministry in your area, and for those Christ would bring to serve and be ministered to/through this Team.

2.  Investigate FCA Outdoors and Team FCA Outdoors.  Explore this website and read the appropriate Outdoors Guide (download below).  While we don't expect anyone to be an "expert" right out of the blocks, it would be beneficial to explore what you are prayerfully considering committing to. It would also be wise to visit the Fellowship of Christian Athletes National website so you may better understand the overall ministry and the strength it provides us as an Outdoors Ministry.

4.  Research Existing Teams in the community or on campus .  It obviously makes sense to join a Team that’s already going if one exists.  This saves time and other resources, as well as unites more individuals under one banner. If there is already an Adult Team FCA Outdoors in your immediate area, talk to its leaders about joining. Perhaps you could run an Outdoors component to what they are already doing. It is our goal to plant multiple Teams in Metropolitan areas as well as the vast unreached ruaral areas in order to greater impact the kingdom. Regardless if a Team is in your area or not, we plan to unite people interested in ministry through commuication and volunteer State Directors plus State, Regional and National events. Please view the Campus & Community Teams currently certified on the right side of this page and contact the Outdoors Guide Leader, if there is one in your area, to get involved. If there are no Teams in your area, follow the steps below to be considered as a new  FCA Outdoors Campus or Adult Community Guide Leader. You will then be contacted by the National Office or other staff in the area.

4.  Have all of the Leaders (or potential Leadership) fill out a FCA Ministry Leader Application (MLA).  This can be done easily online at www.fca.org/hotpicks/mla.lsp . This form is generic and refers to sports and huddles. Please note in other boxes your interest in the Outdoors. Also check the sports specific area. Under experience, let us know your Outdoor accomplishments and your most skilled area. Once you have completed the MLA, you must complete the Leadership Information Form in order to aide in the process.

5.  Contact Tim Eason at 770-301-4985 to discuss your calling and the local vision for your area. After review and communication with any other local FCA staff in the area, he will be able to answer questions and get you started either as a Leader or a member of a local Team. Tim will then complete the certification which lasts 1-year and expires on July 31.  Any group certified after April 1 is certified through the end of the next year (get 4 months free), but won’t receive its Guide Pack until the next year (roughly August 15).

Get started today and join the Team of volunteers. Also don't forget to join the National Membership!
